Vested App for me looks very rudimentory compared to ICICIDirect Account. There is no track for share purchases history (Date of Purchase/Sale, Qty, Purchase/Sales price). It just gives average cost of purchase and overall Return. Investor should know each transacton of purchases or sale. Also what is the capital gain statement? there is no menu available in the App.
Which method do you think is the right way to calculate capital gains
I think method 2 is the right way to calculate but vested uses method 1 in their tax statements.Whats your opinion on this?
Method1:
SELL Value : Net Amount/s from trade conformation PDF
BUY Value : Net Amount/s from trade conformation PDF
Gains/Losses in Dollars($)= SELL Value-BUY Value
Gains/Losses in Rupees=Gains/Losses in Dollars($) * RBI Reference Rate on the last day of the preceding month it was sold
Method2:
N.A. - Net Amount from Trade Conformation PDF
SELL Value=N.A. * RBI Reference Rate on the last day of the preceding month it was sold
BUY Value =N.A. * RBI Reference Rate on the last day of the preceding month it was bought
Gains/Losses in Rupees = SELL Value-Buy Value
Hi, thanks for sharing your feedback, this is genuinely helpful.
We understand where you’re coming from. Platforms like ICICI Direct are built primarily for active trading, so they surface detailed transaction-level data upfront. Vested, on the other hand, has been designed with a slightly different philosophy focused on long-term global investing, which is why the current app view prioritizes portfolio-level insights like average cost and overall returns.
That said, the details you’re asking for are absolutely important:
• Transaction history – You can view all your buy/sell transactions with date, quantity, and price in the Activity / Transactions section on the platform. If this isn’t easily discoverable, that’s valid feedback and something we’re actively working to improve in the app experience.
• Capital gains statement – This is available for download (typically via the Reports or Statements section on web). It includes realized gains, which you can use for tax purposes. We agree this should be more prominently accessible within the app.
We’re continuously improving the product, and feedback like yours directly helps us prioritize what to build next, especially around better reporting and transparency.
If you’re unable to locate any of these, feel free to reach out to us at help@vestedfinance.co or +91-9321712688 and we’ll guide you step-by-step.
API access of my portfolio and ability to make trades via API.
In this day and age, MCP/CLI for Vested would be great. Of course, with all the security guardrails—trades only from white-listed IPs, maybe even set up a dev program for this too…I’m even happy to pay a fee for this.
Yes, FX charges are usually treated as part of the transaction cost, but this depends on your accounting treatment.
Since the bank applies these charges, they may not show up in the P&L documents directly. You can usually find them in the bank statement or transfer confirmation.
Your finance team can then decide whether to include them in the cost or record them separately as bank charges.
Thanks for sharing this suggestion. API access for portfolio tracking and trading, along with developer tools like MCP/CLI, is something we’re actively working on.
An update should be available in the next couple of months, and we’ll share more details as progress is made.
I’m using Groww app for Indian Stock investing. It gives a very seamless UI experience, the app is very intuitive.Would like to have similar experience with Vested app for US stock investing
Thanks for sharing this, we really appreciate the comparison. We are always working to make Vested more seamless and intuitive for investing in US stocks.
It would really help if you could share more about what specifically you like in Groww’s experience, whether it is onboarding, navigation, order flow, portfolio tracking, or anything else. The more details you share, the better we can understand your expectations and work towards creating that experience on Vested.
The S&P 500 is not a relevant benchmark for the Semiconductor Vest. Please add the option to toggle performance comparisons against sector-specific indexes like SMH ETF or the NASDAQ 100. This is essential for accurately tracking whether a specialized Vest is actually generating Alpha over its own sector.
We are working towards enabling the capability for users to pick their own index for their Vests. It is currently in the pipeline, but we do not have a fixed timeline to share yet.
2 years back I had requested that the recurring SIP investment option should also have the time option while creation of the SIP. Otherwise all SIPs gets placed at 9:30 am EST.
