New to us stock portfolios

I am new to the community I have been active investor in Indian stock market since 2-3 years want to diversify my portfolio into us based stocks

Any guide lines like how to pick good stocks and any recommendations for penny or mid cap stocks

I am some one who looks for long term gains only and with a aggressive to medium risk appetite

Thank you

I will suggest you to start by investing in etf which covers major index like sp500, dow ,nasdaq or you can a particular sector too by investing in it through etf.

Try AlphaScreener.com by Vested. It’s a free tool that helps you choose stocks according to those filters you are looking for. If you find some useful stocks and filters that work for you, please do share back with the community.

@Preetham_Gravity_999 a couple of things (pls note that this is not investment advice, just general guidance to get you started):

  • Many people like @Cart_Watson suggested best to start with ETFs if you don’t actively research stocks
  • If you do however want to pick stocks then best is to pick 2-4 companies to start off with that operate in a sector you understand and with business models you understand
  • One doesn’t need to pick only mid-cap companies in the US to make alpha generating returns, can look at good large caps as well. Warren Buffett isn’t afraid to take large stakes in large caps. Check Berkshire for some ideas.
  • Lastly, for diversification overall one can look to invest some percentage internationally

Hope this helps!
