Good time to buy Reddit?

Reddit has experienced significant growth in both user engagement and revenue in 2024.

User Growth:

  • Daily Active Uniques (DAUq) increased by 47% year-over-year, reaching 97.2 million in the third quarter.

  • Monthly Active Users (MAUs) are projected to reach 1.212 billion by the end of 2024, up from 1.021 billion in 2023.

Revenue Growth:

  • In Q3 2024, revenue grew by 68% year-over-year to $348.4 million.

  • Advertising revenue increased by 56% year-over-year, while “other” revenue, including data licensing, surged by 547%, reaching $33.2 million.

Reddit thrives on niche, hyper-focused subreddits. From investing tips on r/wallstreetbets to tech trends on r/technology, its communities are unmatched. This makes it an advertiser’s dream—targeted audiences who actually care.

Reddit isn’t just an ad-based business anymore. With moves like monetizing its data and exploring AI-powered features, it’s building multiple revenue streams. This is key for long-term sustainability, especially if ad markets tighten.

Reddit’s big push into global markets could unlock even more growth. It’s one of the few platforms that hasn’t fully tapped into Europe or Asia yet, meaning there’s a lot of room to grow outside the US.

Reddit is more than memes and karma—it’s becoming a serious business with high-growth potential. With engaged users, strong revenue growth, and a solid foothold in the AI revolution, it’s shaping up to be a long-term winner. If they can keep users happy while expanding, betting on Reddit might just pay off big time.

Really good insights. I’m curious—how does Reddit plan to maintain the authenticity of its niche communities while ramping up monetization efforts? Sometimes over-commercialization can alienate users, especially on Reddit as it thrives on organic engagement.

Also, with the surge in data licensing revenue, do we know how Reddit is ensuring user privacy and ethical use of data? This could be a big factor in their long-term global expansion plans and push back from governments. This space still feels like its unwinding.

Lastly, as they tap into AI-powered features, what’s the competitive advantage Reddit holds against other platforms already leveraging AI? I mean, isn’t Reddit known for user generated content? Why would people give a f*ck about AI generated answers.

@Ramya Maybe the key lies in giving users more control—like letting communities decide how ads appear or sharing a portion of revenue with active subreddits. If Reddit can empower its users rather than alienate them, it could strike a balance.

Reddit is valuable because of its human-driven content. Maybe the AI tools aren’t meant to replace that but enhance it? For example, AI could summarize long threads or provide context while leaving the authentic user discussions intact.

Sometimes there are more than 500 to 1000 comments on post. Its good to have AI summaries at that point. I think AI compliments Reddit and also not to forget their main source of revenue leading them to profits this time.
